Community support has always been at the heart of Geebung RSL.
While honouring and assisting veterans remains a central part of our purpose, the Geebung Zillmere Bald Hills Aspley RSL Sub-Branch also plays an active role in supporting local schools, community organisations and families across Brisbane’s northside.
Supporting Geebung and Aspley Special Schools
One of Geebung RSL’s longstanding community initiatives is the annual Sports Lunch Fundraiser, which supports Geebung Special School and Aspley Special School.
Bringing together members, local businesses and supporters, the luncheon raises funds to assist both schools and their communities.
In September 2026, Geebung RSL also introduced a special fundraising initiative through Element Bistro, pledging $1 from every Reef & Beef featured dish sold towards its upcoming Sports Lunch fundraiser.
The Citizens Auxiliary: Volunteers Making a Difference
Behind many community initiatives is the dedicated Geebung Zillmere Bald Hills Aspley RSL Citizens Auxiliary.
Originally established in 1959 as the Women’s Auxiliary, this volunteer group has a proud history of fundraising, assisting veterans and supporting commemorative activities.
Its volunteers contribute through badge and poppy sales, raffles, community stalls and assistance with ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day activities.
In July 2025, the Auxiliary brought back its popular Cent Auction following a pause during the pandemic, giving the community another way to support veteran welfare and local projects.
Auxiliary fundraising supports veterans’ health and welfare, donations to local special schools and the upkeep of ANZAC memorial sites.
A Stronger Community Through Connection
Whether it is raising funds for local students, supporting veterans and their families, or volunteering at commemorative services, the work of the Sub-Branch reflects Geebung RSL’s longstanding commitment to community.
We thank the volunteers, members, local businesses and supporters whose contributions make these initiatives possible.
